Next time you are up in the Wine Country, make a pit stop at the Cornerstone for some sip, shop, eat and play. All in one place. Plus Sunset Celebration weekend on May 20th + 21st!

e are big fans of the Cornerstone here at California Weekend. Each time our way leads us to Sonoma, we make sure to stop at this marketplace packed with curated shopping, world-class wineries, delicious food, and artful gardens. And since last year, there is also one more important reason to stop at Cornerstone. Our all time favorite magazine, Sunset, has made Cornerstone the home of their outdoor test kitchen and gardens. If you are familiar with Sunset (which, if you live west of the Rocky Mountains, you certainly are), you know that Sunset is all about living your best in the West. From great travel features to fascinating interviews and essays, to innovative recipes and everything in between, Sunset is must-read resource for the easy-going lifestyle. cornerstone-sunset-celebration-weekend-112

Cornerstone has three wine tasting rooms ( Keating Wines, Poseidon Vineyard & Obsidian Ridge, Meadowcroft Wines) and one restaurant ( Park 121 Café & Grill) to make sure your belly is not growling while shopping. Which leads us to shopping. There are several great shops to stock on home goods, fancy garden tools, handmade soap, vintage outdoor decoration, clothes, and accessories. You name it. Since everything is close by, you can easily stroll into each of them. Nomad Chic has some seriously well-curated house accents, beautiful kaftans, and jewelry, while Potter Green & Co. is a dream shop for all your garden needs.

But probably the most attracting detail about the Cornerstone are their artful gardens. International and national landscape designers are showcasing the latest innovation in garden design creating a relationship between design, functionality, architecture and art. The exhibitions change regularly, and all admission is free. Stroll around, get inspired and jazz up finally that pond in your backyard. The Sunset Gardens are separate from the Cornerstone Gardens, but are also open to the public. You can see where the team grows their herbs, read about sustainable planting, get informed about latest trends in gardening or wander through the backyard orchard highlighting fruit trees thriving in Sonoma’s climate. There is even a Cocktail Garden displaying all the produce you need to make a great cocktail. We are wondering if this is the most popular of all.
