Hidden between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, you could even miss the sign, is Corona Del Mar. A picturesque coastal community with homes (ok, mansions) and ocean views straight from a postcard.
D
rive down to Ocean Boulevard at any time of the day for truly spectacular scenery. On the one side: The perfectly manicured gardens, Bougainvillea from another world, and houses spanning a half block. On the other side: Lush plants, succulents decorated sidewalks, white beaches and the blue ocean. It feels like walking the pages of California Home + Design Magazine.Walk down to the Big Corona Beach to watch beach volleyball and grab a snack from Tackle Box, a grub shack by Chef Brian Huskey, who creates fresh, honest food for the community and everyone who loves a good “not your usual” beach snack. From “Pork rinds smothered in clam chowder and bacon” to Niman Ranch pork belly “banh mi” with ginger + scallion + spicy aioli, the menu can compete with every sit-down restaurant. If all tables are occupied, just claim your seat on the wide beach.
Rest for awhile, have a nap on the beach, soak in the view and enjoy the food. You can continue your journey in a bit.
