specially in California, the “silver bullet” has found its cult following. Even if today we don’t see them as often cruising around, they evoke the nostalgic feeling of the 50s Golden Era of Travel when camping was done in style. And while you probably won’t splurge on this traveling hotel room, it doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy it for a weekend. Airstream hotels are popping up around the state, and the ones lucky enough to had their grandma inherit them one have converted the Airstreams into stylish Airbnbs. AUTOCAMP, Guerneville

With already two location in CA ( Santa Barbara + Russian River), Autocamp is an upscale camping experience. The last year opened Autocamp in Russian River was designed by Bay Area’s uber-talented designer, Lauren Geremia. There is no shortage of luxury in these trailers. Flat TVs, plush queen-size beds, and soft bathrobes are just some of amenities Autocamp offers. This place has us dreaming of waking up under the Redwoods to breezy summer air and long mild nights around fire pits, roasting marshmallows.

Big Bottom Market – quick snacks, salad, provisions and best buttery-soft biscuits.
Seaside Metal – Dinner spot with delicious seafood and oysters.

DO
•  Float, sunbath and swim on the Russian River.
•  Kayak the Russian River. Best kayak rental: Burke’s Canoe rental in Forestville.
•  Hike Armstrong Redwoods.

CARAVAN OUTPOST, Ojai

Set near the town center, Caravan Outpost in an oasis in Ojai. Arranged in a circle around a large patio and shadowed by tall palms, the eleven Airstreams are all remodeled and equipped with newest conveniences. The interior is a mix of modern elements paired with retro details and few bohemian touches. When the weather plays along the Caravan Outpost organizes movie nights under the sky, pop-up dinners, and small concerts.

•  Knead Baking Company – set in an old gas station, this is the best spot for breakfast and pastries. And great coffee.
•  Hip Vegan – huge, delicious salad bowls.
•  Boccalis’s Pizza & Pasta – old school, traditional Italian with mouthwatering pizza. Get yours to-go and enjoy it in at your trailer. Don’t forget the the bottle of wine.

DO
•  Meditation Mountain – don’t miss this calm, serene spot in the mountains.
•  Hike the Shelf Road – best hike in Ojai overlooking the orange groves.
•  Bike the Ojai path with your complimentary bikes.

SLEEP & HIKE, Pescadero

In Pescadero, between Half Moon Bay and Monterey, lays this charming Airbnb trailer. Ideally located to explore the beaches and hiking trails around. Pescadero on its own is a small culinary destination you shouldn’t miss. With the world famous artichoke bread, the award-winning goat cheese and a delicious bowl of cioppino, you will never be hungry in this mini town. Nicole, the designer behind the trailer, put a lot of love into the details. Cozy up on foggy coast days or go for a ride with the complimentary bikes.

Duarte’s Tavern – one of the best cioppinos along the coast.
Downtown Local – get your morning cup of freshly brewed coffee.

DO
•  Visit Harley Goat Farms and stock on this award-winning cheese. And yes, feed the goats. Check if they have pop-up dinners happening while you are there. They are set in their beautiful, rustic attic.
•  Grab a warm loaf of the artichoke bread, lavender goat cheese from Harley Goat Farms, a blanket and drive to the beach for a sunset picnic.
•  Make a stop at the Pie Ranch for yummy pie.
•  Visit the Point Pigeon Lighthouse.

THE HUDSON AT LAZY SKY, Yucca Valley

Set on 10 acres of pristine land in Yucca Valley, the Hudson is part of the Lazy Sky Boutique Retreat. Keeping it in style of the surrounding the camper features reclaimed wood walls, Hudson Bay blankets and a small graveled patio for star gazing. Go all remote in the middle of Joshua Tree Park with the Land Yacht. If you are looking to escape the world for day or two, look no further.
